The everyday aches and pains you're used to could indicate a health emergency.

Though you can't always let every ache, soreness or twinge, worry you, pain is your body's way of telling you that something isn't quite right, especially when it comes on suddenly, lingers longer than usual, or just seems different.

According to medical experts, the following pain conditions should never be ignored as they could have serious health implications.

1. A sharp ache between your shoulder blades

Could be: A heart attack
About 30 percent of people who have heart attacks don't get the classic chest pressure. Pain between shoulder blades is common in women, as is jaw pain, shortness of breath and nausea. If you have these symptoms, you need medical attention.

2. Dull stomach pain that gets sharper:
Could be: Appendicitis
If you feel a dull stomach pain that gets sharper as it moves lower to the right of your abdomen (usually it gets more intense over a 24-hour period as it shifts location), you should see your doctor.

3. Mid-back pain coupled with fever
Could be: A kidney infection
Don't assume that your temperature, nausea and back pain are just a stomach bug. This condition develops when bacteria that infiltrate the urinary tract spread to the kidneys, making the infection much more severe.

4. Transient Chest Pain
Could be: Indigestion or Heart Attack

If it's very short in duration, it could be a sign of something serious. Here's how serious: A blood clot may have lodged in a narrowed section of a coronary artery, completely cutting off the flow of blood to one section of your heart.

5. Painful Urination:
Could be: Bladder Cancer
The pain and the blood in your urine are symptoms of this, the fourth most common cancer in men. Catch the disease early, and there's a 90 percent chance of fixing it.

Relieving yourself has become an exercise in expletives. Also, you could swear (and you do) that your yellow stream has a rusty tint.

6. Menstrual cramps that don't get better with medication

Could be: Endometriosis
Endometriosis impedes fertility, and it's common. Forty percent to 60 percent of women whose periods are very painful may have it. If pain persists, you may need to have the tissue surgically removed.

7. Severe Head Pain:
Could Be: Brain Aneurysm
Chances are, it's a migraine. But if it isn't accompanied by other migraine symptoms (such as a visual aura), sudden, severe head pain can signal a brain aneurysm. A burst aneurysm can cause brain damage within minutes, so you need to seek medical attention.
