Why You Should Retain Your Faith Through Life’s Difficult Moments

Touch Of Thoughts Why You Should Retain Your Faith Through Lifes Difficult Moments

It is the most difficult and trying times that hold life’s most valuable treasures, the darkest periods in life, times when you can’t see your right hand from your left or tell which direction the boat of your life is heading. At some point, every one of us, Christian and non-Christians alike will go through difficult moments in life but how we handle these moments for the most part determines the outcome.

Some people go through difficulties and they come out broken whilst others go through the same difficulties and come out mended. Difficulties, or as i prefer to call them, challenges, can either make us or break us. We have a choice to tilt the balance and make these moments work in our favour by applying certain principles. Difficult moments can be likened to storms; they have the potential to either destroy you or to propel you forward to your destination.

Storms are an integral part of living life here on earth, we know they will come but often times we don’t know when and where. When they do come they often hit us when we least expect and in the areas we are least prepared. No one will go through this life without experiencing one of these moments. As Christians we know that God will cause everything to work out for our good but the challenge is maintaining our faith when we are going through this season of difficulty.

These difficult moments shake us to the core, putting our faith and everything else we have and know to the test. When we are stretched to the breaking point the easiest thing for us to do is to give up and give in; watering down our standards and values to get a reprieve from the pain inflicted by these difficult moments. On the other hand these difficult moments or storms give us the opportunity to discover the treasures God has hidden for us within their deadly blow. If we allow these moments to steal our faith then we end up missing the reason why God allows us to go through these difficulties. In my book titled ‘Worship Through The Storm’ i outlined four major reasons why God hides treasures in life’s difficult moments –in storms. Here are some of the reasons:

1. To get the best out of us
2. To help us discover our true selves
3. To prepare us for a greater task
4. To show off His splendour Detailed explanations of each of these reasons can be found in chapter 8 ‘Why God Hides Treasures in Storms’ of the book. Inevitably, if we are to go through these difficult moments without losing our faith we will not only need to pray but to also put into practice certain principles that will enable us to convert the destructive energy in the storm to constructive energy that will propel us to new heights and into a completely new dimension of living and existence.

Here are a few of these principles as outlined in my book:

1. Look beyond the challenge
2. Pray and ask God for daily bread
3. Spend the best of your time worshipping It is possible to be in the middle of the most difficult moment in your life and still experience peace. By putting these principles into practice you’ll begin to experience peace in the most unusual places in life – in the midst of a storm. If you are currently going through a difficult time i want to let you know that it is just for a season, so be encouraged.

Never give up your faith in God or resign yourself to defeat. Instead, turn your face towards heaven and keep your eyes focused on God. Allow worship to flow from your spirit, to your mind and out of your mouth to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to kindle your spirit and teach your heart to worship. Then watch what happens next. Right in the eye of the storm where others normally give up or break down, you will see remarkable changes. As you apply the principles of focus, prayer and worship your faith will be boosted and you will start experiencing increasing levels of peace and fulfilment.

My prayer is that your difficult moments will not break you but will make you. That like a caterpillar, this process of transformation will propel you into your new season of living and existence. I pray that your testimony at the end of this period will be one of beauty, flight and abundance.
