Product Review: Enjoying In My Radiant Skin From Using Vaseline Cocoa Glow
18.12.2014 LISTEN

For those of us who grew up in Ghana, the harmattan season is obviously the most dreaded period of the year for our skin. My grandmother always made sure we had shea butter or“nkuto”as it's popularly known, and Vaseline Petroleum Jelly (PJ) available to keep our skin from drying up. I therefore grew up already accustomed to Vaseline and “nkuto” with Vaseline PJ being my preferred choice as it did not have that funny scent typical of the locally made Shea Butter.

A few weeks ago I watched the launch event of the New Vaseline Intensive Care Range on TV3's news bulletin and although quite impressed with the pomp and pageantry of the launch; I did not give much thought to the healing proponent heralded in the new Vaseline range. A later follow up on Vaseline Ghana's Facebook page brought me across a skin analysis test which I ended up engaging with.

In less than 60 seconds of interacting with the skin test application; I was able to determine my skin type and subsequently have the app recommend the suitable Vaseline variant best suited to my skin type. My Vaseline skin analysis results read “You have normal skin.

Your skin is smooth, has a healthy complexion and is easy to look after. Make sure to use the right skincare products to ensure you keep your skin looking healthy well into your old age. We recommend Cocoa Glow Lotions for your skin type. This lotion is suitable for daily use and are clinically tested to restore dry skin 3 X longer than the leading competitor”

I always suspected I had normal skin but it was reassuring to have this confirmed by the Vaseline skin analysis test. I decided to give the recommended variant a try and see for myself if the product delivers on its promise of superior moisturization. Being a cocoa butter cream user; switching to the recommended Vaseline Cocoa Glow lotion wasrelatively an easy task for me.

Now, my decision to purchase a productusually lies in my ability to continuously afford the product on a recurring basis as I am not one to change my preference with every purchase. I was thus very glad to have the 400ml and 200ml Vaseline lotion retailing at GHC 12.0 and GHC 7.0 respectively in my neighborhood cosmetic shop. The 350ml Vaseline cream was also retailing at GHC 12.0 meaning I could afford to buy both a large cream and lotion for only GHC 24.0 same price as plate of food for lunch. Considering how affordable this new Vaseline range was; I ended up also buying the Dry Skin Repair cream for my little sister, Amina who has extremely dry skin.

Okay! I have also been using the Vaseline Cocoa Glow lotion for over three weeks now and I can confidently say it is giving me amazing results. This new Vaseline keeps my skin glowing and moisturized all day long; I even hadto do away with my handy moisturizer which I always kept in my handbag as I see no use for it anymore.

I rate the new Vaseline Intensive Care range 5 stars! I'm only upset this product wasn't available anytime sooner than now. I recommend to all to take the Vaseline Skin Analysis App test on Facebook to determine your skin type and then go on to purchase the recommended variant. Oh Yes! The new Vaseline range of lotions and creams has the original Vaseline petroleum jelly infused into its formulation, meaning I can smile in the face of Harmattan – no more dry skin!
