Lamudi Ghana, a leading property website focusing on the emerging markets, is calling for an effective collaboration between government and the private sector to provide affordable houses for Ghanaians.

Mr. Fidel Amoah, Content Developer for Lamudi Ghana said “because of the challenges in acquiring land in Ghana as a result of improper land tenure systems, and 70 percent of building materials imported to build the houses in Ghana, developers are faced to pass on the cost to the consumers. We believe if government collaborates effectively with the real estate developers, prices will come down”.

According to him, for Ghana to bridge the housing deficit gap, it will be in the interest of government to streamline activities in the private sector by collaboration to improve the lives of its citizenry.

Mr. Fidel Amoah made this known at a conference organized by Lamudi to create awareness of real estate in emerging market yesterday in Accra.

He noted that “the future of real estate in Ghana is very bright because Ghana has now attain a middle income status which means the disposable income of people has increase and can afford houses”.

He averred that there is a growing demand for real estate in the country and if things are streamline properly, it will drive the development agenda of the country.

Mr. Sammy Amegayibor, Secretary to the Executive Council of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association speaking at the conference said public – private partnership provide the best opportunities for affordable housing.
