Rev. Olusola Areogun
The first thing that he said is that when you pray say “Our Father which art in heaven”. True prayer is based on a living relationship with God. He is our Father and we are his children. One clear way to prove that someone is a child of God is that he has answers to prayers. This distinguishes a Christian from every other person; that he prays to heaven and receives definite, direct answers to his prayers. The first principle is relationship with God. Think about it, do you really have a relationship with God? I don't mean do you believe in God in a general and intellectual sense? I mean have you accepted or received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour because He is the only way to the Father? “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me” – John 14:6.

The only way to have God as your Father is through Jesus Christ. To prevail in prayer you must have God as Father. God answers our prayers not because you have a need per say; it is because he is Father to us. The scripture says that your Father knows you have need of those things before you ask him (Matt. 6:8)

If you don't have a relationship with God yet, you can pray at this point and invite Jesus into your heart now. Just pray like this, “Lord Jesus I open my heart to you, I want you to be my Lord and Saviour from today, I turn away from sin and from the devil, I welcome you into my heart now. Thank you for doing it.”

If you have prayed this prayer and meant it in your heart, you have just entered into a relationship with him, halleluyah. That is the first principle of prevailing prayer. You can just walk into God's presence by the blood of Jesus and with Christ in you now, no interruption, no waiting room, no secretary just go in as a son or a daughter to your Father and he will respond to you. You are celebrated and not tolerated in his presence because of the blood of Christ.

Prayer: Thank you Father because I can come to you by the blood of Jesus. I know you hear me as I pray, amen.
