A 43-year-old woman from Kenyasi 2, in the Asutifi north district of the Brong Ahafo Region, Afisatu Abekah Sampson, went to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital in Kumasi to deliver, upon referral, but to the amazement of the nurses and doctors on duty, the woman delivered four (4) strong baby girls.

“I jumped up in jubilation, amidst drumming and dancing throughout the principal streets of Kenyasi 2, when my wife broke the news to me on phone while crying. People from nearby houses joined me to celebrate my blessing from God. The over jubilation triggered my hypertension,” Mr. Abekah Sampson, 56, cheerfully told The Chronicle.

According to the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Abekah Sampson, they have been married for 23 years without a child, as all efforts to have their own children proved unsuccessful.

“At our ages, 56 and 43 respectively, we thought all was lost, but God has visited us and blessed us,” Mr. Abekah stated, with tears of joy streaming down from his eyes.

Meanwhile, at the Manhyia palace, His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, laid his hands on the four girls, one after the other, to pray and bless them, after the Omanhene of Kenyasi 2 traditional area, Odeneho Kwabena Nsiah Ababio, had presented the quadruplets to him, as Akan custom demands.

The highly elated Otumfuo promised to cater for the education of the four girls. You are always welcomed to my palace. Because I have married all of them, they are my wives, Otumfuo told the parents at the Manhyia palace.

Mr. Abekah Sampson, unemployed, and Afisatu Abekah Sampson, a petty trader, said they look up to God and loved ones to take care of the children.

“They eat three tins of canned foods daily, which cost GH¢90, they use one pack of pampers everyday, which cost GH¢15. Then there is also porridge and their clothing. We will need support from all and sundry,” Mad. Afisatu made an appeal through The Chronicle.

Meanwhile, the four baby girls look healthy and strong. Their weights (mass) individually, are higher than normal babies of their age, when The chronicle visited them at their Kenyasi residence.
