POSITIVE RUNWAY: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread has been selected as an official affiliated event of the XIX International AIDS Conference taking place in Washington DC from 22-27 July 2012.
High level speakers at the Conference will include, 42nd US President Bill Clinton; US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton; Founder of the Bill Gates Foundation and Philanthropist Bill Gates; founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and humanitarian Sir Elton John; actress Whoopi Goldberg; Actress Sharon Stone; Former US First Lady Laura Bush; South African Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe; US Senators John Kerry and Lindsey Graham; US House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi; US Congresswoman Barbara Lee; World Bank President Jim Yong Kim; UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé; and The Earth Institute Director, Jeffrey Sachs. Some 25,000 scientists, people living with HIV, and other stakeholders are expected to attend the Conference.
Actress Sharon Stone will join UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon; and General Secretary of the National League for Democracy, (Myanmar/Burma)Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, to address the Conference via video.
The WASHINGTON DC GLOBAL CATWALK Fashion & Music Event, will take place during the world conference over two days. On 25 July 2012 the show will take place at Dirty Martini Lounge, 1223 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington DC 20036, and on Thursday 26th July it will take place at the Carnegie Library, Historical Society of Washington DC, 801 K Street NW, Washington DC 2000.
The WASHINGTON DC GLOBAL CATWALK will feature Positive Runway's signature RED RIBBON Models and will be hosted by USA celebrity stylist, Dwight Eubanks with actress Sheryl Lee Ralph; and Legendary Grammy Award Winner & Hip Hop Icon, DJ Spinderella. The event will be directed and produced by celebrity Runway and Casting Director, Christian Ruart; Baltimore Fashion Week Founder/Producer, Sharan Nixon; and Celebrity Fashion Show Producer, Armand Cofield; Miss Black America-Baltimore, Alexandra Morton; and the undisputed, Jae Murphy.
The Washington DC Global Catwalk Fashion & Music Event is organized by POSITIVE RUNWAY: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread, a global HIV/AIDS response campaign that aims to bridge the gap in the global efforts to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The target audience of the message from POSITIVE RUNWAY: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread® are young people aged 16-24 or even younger, who may be sexually active and/or vulnerable. Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread works with top models.
“As a fashion and music event the Washington, DC Global Catwalk is an innovative and creative initiative which speaks the same language as the celebrity obsessed, 21st century younger generation, in order to get the message across and impact the youth to stop the spread!” says Justina Mutale.
The star-studded event will feature POSITIVE RUNWAY's own signature Red Ribbon Models® who will showcase designs by top fashion designers.
