Professional model and actress Menaye Donkor lives in Europe but her heart and caring eyes are focused on her numerous needy “children” in her home country, Ghana.
The wife of Sulley Muntari founded the Menaye Charity Organisation in 2005, shortly after she won the pageant to represent Ghana in the Miss Universe competition. All the money that the Charity raises is directed to good causes that are close to Menaye's heart, predominantly to help disadvantaged children in Ghana. One such cause is the Menaye International School in the central region of Ghana, which provides free education for children in the local community. There are around 300 pupils at the school, who would not otherwise have had access to an education.
The Menaye Charity Organisation is entirely responsible for the funding of the school, paying for everything from the teachers' salaries and pupil uniforms, through to all the books and equipment required for lessons. They have also recently installed an IT suite, and plan to raise enough funds in the future to provide a school bus to transport the children from home to school and back home. Currently, many of the children walk several miles to attend.
Menaye also supported several orphanages in Ghana, which look after children infected and affected by AIDS and HIV. Any funds not directed to the Menaye International School, are used to help provide medical care for the orphans.
