The Chairman of the Polytechnic Teachers' Association of Ghana (POTAG)-Kumasi, Edmond Oppong-Peprah, has joined the Asante-Akyem South parliamentary race on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He disclosed that he was responding to calls by people of the area to contest in the party's primaries, stressing that he has the unflinching support of the delegates and so he would win the primaries with a wide margin and subsequently emerge victorious at the national poll in 2016.

Mr. Oppong-Peprah, who is currently a lecturer at the Kumasi Polytechnic, was speaking to DAILY GUIDE after he had picked his nomination forms at the NPP office at Juaso on Wednesday.

He said he was shocked when he went to the party office as he was accorded a rousing welcome by a large crowd of party people, including some delegates.

Mr. Oppong-Peprah, pleased with the reception given him, said he would win the race and implement new policies to uplift the image of the NPP, which he claimed is currently low in the constituency.

'Presently, there is despondency and apathy in the party and I will work assiduously to rekindle the NPP spirit to make the party more vibrant and attractive once more,' he confidently assured.

The POTAG chairman noted that the NPP needs a charismatic, energetic and visionary person like him in the constituency as a parliamentary candidate so as to help the NPP garner more votes in the 2016 general elections.

Oppong-Peprah, who sounded extremely confident, said effectively developing the constituency and bettering the lives of the constituents would be his major concern when he was eventually elected MP.

He disclosed that his developmental agenda would involve areas such as education, employment creation and facilitating massive infrastructural development.
