Mr Divine Ferg Afedo, Ho Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Thursday debunked media reports that some “disgruntled” members of NDC in the Constituency defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserting that Ho “is still a no go area” for that party.

“NDC is very attractive now as ever and I don't see how anybody will leave the Party for an opposition Party. More people are showing interest in NDC and you will see this in 2016,” Mr Afedo said.

He said the government was fulfilling promises made to the Constituency and confident that the NDC would “win all the votes” in the Constituency.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Afedo said work on the permanent site of the University of Health and Allied Science, reconstruction of Ho-Central Market, access roads to farming communities and other infrastructural projects in the Constituency were indications of government's commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people.

He said committees were meeting identifiable groups to explain government's programmes and policies to them and was hopeful the exercise would dispel misconceptions about government's commitment to the Constituency.

Mr Afedo also hinted that in a few weeks, Party Communicators would begin “house-to-house visits” towards achieving “all the votes” target for 2016.

“We are not leaving anything to chance. We will reduce NPP's vote in 2016,” he stated.

In the 2012 presidential elections, NDC had 62,363 votes, representing 91.83 per cent against NPP's 5,148 votes, representing 7.58 per cent in the Ho Central Constituency.
