NDC Footsoldiers Alleges Fraud In President's Appointment
09.09.2014 LISTEN

A group of NDC footsoldiers calling themselves 'opinion leaders of Akyem Oda and Akroso/Manso/Asene constituencies are questioning the genuineness of a letter appointing one Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare as the new Municipal Chief Executive of the Birim Central municipal Assembly.

According the group, it is weird that a letter supposedly appointing an MCE will be coming from the Office Of The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council instead of The flag staff house or by extension the Local Government Ministry.

In a press statement signed by Nana Ohene Abednego, a branch secretary of The party in the Akyem Oda constituency, the group alleged that; "our investigation shows that Mr. Kwadwo Atta -Kra, the managing director of The Produce Buying Company (PBC) in connivance with some Constituency and Regional Executive are manipulating the system to have Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare nominated as the MCE without passing through the proper procedure".

The group also alleges that Mr Kwadwo Atta Kra has been behaving as though the party in the Akyem Oda constituency is his bona fide property a position that is "dividing the ranks of The party in this area".

The group is therefore appealing to the president to clear the air on the appointment of Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare as the new Municipal Chief Executive nominee of The Birim Central Municipal Assembly.

BACKGROUND
The Birim Central Municipal Assembly received a letter dated 27th August 2014 from the office Of the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council nominating Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare as the new Municipal Chief Executive of The assembly.

the letter which was signed for the eastern regional minister by the Regional Co-ordinating director Mr. Abdulai Zakari read;

"the president, in accordance with article 243(1) of The 1992 constitution and Section 20(1) of The Local Government Act 462 1993 has nominated Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare as the Municipal Chief Executive of The Birim Central Municipal Assembly.

Kindly initiate the processes of his confirmation including the date of The meeting with all relevant stakeholders and inform the Hon. Regional Minister accordingly."

FAST-FORWARD.
The Birim Central Municipal Assembly in recognition of The letter has also written to the Assembly members inviting them to a meeting to confirm Mr.Kwabena Nkansah Asare.

The meeting is scheduled to take place this Thursday.

Meanwhile all effort to get reaction from the appropriate quarters have proved futile owning to the current constituency congresses ongoing in the Region.
