Tamale, Sept. 2, GNA - Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to members of the party to stop acts that would undermine the party's aim of winning the 2016 polls.

He said NPP was bigger than any individual within the party and stressed the importance of togetherness, unity and cohesion, which would help to capture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to administer   good governance to the people of Ghana.

Mr Naabu told the GNA in Tamale on Tuesday that the outcome of the party's Super Delegates' Congress held on Sunday showed that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was very popular among the rank and file of the party.

'The first hurdle for Nana Akufo-Addo has been cleared and I am assuring you it's going to be same in the October Congress,' he said.

'I know that Nana Akufo-Addo is already our flagbearer and what I am pleading for is peace and unity to prevail to ensure a one round victory in 2016'.

'I am, therefore, appealing to the other contestants, both those who lost and those still in the race for the October Congress, to let peace and unity reign supreme in the party,' he pleaded.

He said some Ghanaians were disappointed in the NDC government for failing to improve the economy and the only alternative party was the NPP.

He expressed the hope that the NPP would be able to address their internal problems soon after the October Congress.

Mr. Naabu commended the delegates for the manner in which they comported themselves in Sunday's Supper Delegates' Congress and urged them to do same in October.
