Ghana's biggest opposition political party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun a special voting exercise to trim down presidential aspirants from seven to five, in line with the party's constitution.

The nationwide Super Delegates' Congress will be supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) with support from some of the NPP's national executives.

As at 8:40 am Sunday morning agents of the seven aspirants were organising themselves for the elections to start.

The seven aspirants include two-time presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten, second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Ghartey, former Minister of State, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, MPs, Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Francis Addai Nimoh.

Agents for the presidential aspirants were present at the printing house to monitor the printing of the ballot papers.

781 delegates made up of leaders of the party across the country will be casting their vote to select the five aspirants to contest the flagbearership position of the NPP.

Every candidate has also been given a list of potential voters.

EC has set up polling stations in the 10 regional capitals and at the party headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.

Venues for voting in all 10 regions are as follows:

Ashanti   -   Community Centre, Knust
Greater Accra - Osu Salem Park, Accra
Central - Pampanasie Hotel, Cape Coast
Western -  GNAT Hall , Takoradi
Brong Ahafo -   Pastoral Center, Sunyani
Northern -  Sport Stadium (Inner Car Park)
Eastern  -   Oyinka Hotel, Koforidua
Volta   -    Skyplus Hotel, Ho
Upper West  -  GNAT Hall, Wa
Upper East -   VAG Hall, Bolga
National – NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down
Collation and declaration of final results will be done at the party's headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
