Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson has revealed that if elections were held today the NDC would lose because of the current economic state of the country.

He said it is unfortunate that the country is facing economic challenges under the NDC administration.

The pollster was speaking on XYZ's, THE ANALYST on Saturday morning, August, 23.

In two years' time (2016), Ghana will be going to the polls to either elect another government or retain the NDC government. Elections all over the world are partly based on the performance of the government of the day.

Ben Ephson said, 'If election was held today, the NDC would lose due to the current socio-economic challenges we are facing, but I believe 2 years is quite a long period [in politics] for the NDC to make positive changes in the economy. If things improve, people will use it as a benchmark and vote for the NDC.'

The Mahama-led administration has been bashed for a number of policies and leadership decisions that have not yielded the expected results by its detractors- GYEEDA, SUBA and SADA, just to mention a few.

However, government has rolled out a number of policy interventions and some developmental projects in its quest to save the economy from a total collapse. In pursuance of this, the government is seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Fund to restore credibility in the economy and a way out of the current hardships.
