Blame Afoko, Agyapong For NPP Problems - FF Anto
28.06.2014 LISTEN

Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong
Third National Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), F.F Anto has blamed the recent unfortunate incident that occurred at the party's headquarters on Paul afoko, the National Chairman of the party and Kwabena agyepong, the General Secretary.

He accused the two of rejecting suggestions from other national executives.

There was nearly bloodbath at the headquarters of the NPP on Monday at Asylum Down when a scuffle broke out between security guards appointed by the old executives and those allegedly appointed by the new executives.

The timely intervention of the police personnel from the Nima Divisional Command prevented what could have been a bloody spectacle since the old guards fiercely resisted attempts by the new security guards to take over their duties at the party's national headquarters.

The development heightened tension in the NPP, as some members blame the new executives for what transpired.

Kwabena Agyapong however denied accusations that the new executives were involved in the fracas and promised to 'get to the bottom of it'.

But commenting on the development at NPP Headquarters on Okay Fm's 'Adeakye Abea,' Mr Anto said that every bickering resulting from the transition from the old executives to the new should be blamed on Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, as several exit plans suggested to them by other executives had been rejected.

'We have had several executive transitions in the party but the fact is that the poorest transition the party has witnessed is this one…we are a political party and so whatever we do, we should think twice about it to determine if it will make the party attractive to floating voters or not. In elections, our strength alone cannot make us win power and so we should make sure that we make the party attractive to those who are not politically inclined to like our party when we act out scenes like what transpired at the party Headquarters, we are driving away people from the party. There should be no problem when you're relieving someone off his position and it is done with a human face.

'Some of us contested the National Executive positions with the intention to make the party win elections, but what is going on at the party headquarters is shameful, and I regret to have contested for the position…we have to blame Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong for the transitional problem in the party. They made the changes, some of us suggested proper exit plans for the old executives, the National Chairman and the General Secretary do not listen to advice and suggestions from other executives in the party,' he stated.
