NDC's victory in election 2012 is pre-ordained by God – Alhaji Gausu
29.12.2012 LISTEN

Alhaji Baba Gausu, Brong-Ahafo Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Friday said the party's victory in the just ended general elections was pre-ordained by God.

He, however, cautioned the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rescind its decision to challenge the outcome of the elections since that would be challenging God's decision.

Addressing hundreds of supporters of the NDC in Sunyani at a thanksgiving service organised by the Brong-Ahafo Regional Women's wing of the party, Alhaji Gausu said God heard and answered the cry of Ghanaians for a peaceful election.

He said any group, individual or political party that contested the election results did so at its own peril.

Alhaji Gausu said Ghanaians recognized the speedy transformation of the nation and the level of development within the past four years under the NDC's Better Ghana Agenda.

This, he noted, was why the electorate, especially those in Brong-Ahafo, voted massively to retain the government.

Alhaji Gausu indicated that though the NDC targeted to win 19 parliamentary seats in the region, the 16 out of the 29 seats it won shows the party had gradually gained roots in the region.

He said the presidential results from the various constituencies were also appreciable adding that with hard work the party would capture almost all the seats in the region in 2016.

Nana Adwoa Takyiwaa II, Brong-Ahafo Regional Women's Organiser of the NDC, said the party perform creditably in the region because many women participated in election 2012.

This, she explained, was not only because First Lady Lordina Mahama hailed from the region but also because most of the women had been empowered economically within the last four years.

Nana Takyiwaa II, who is the Benkumhemaa of Dormaa Akwamu Traditional Area, expressed optimism that the government would support most of the women in the region to make them self-reliant.
