The Leadership of the New Patriotic Party has resolved to seek redress over its concerns about the results of the December polls in court.

This was revealed by the Party Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey after a meeting with the Party's National Executive Council.

According to Citi News reporter, Sammy Wiafe, "Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the National Chairman of the party addressed the media after this particular meeting and stated that indeed they are going to court."

Meanwhile, thousands of supporters of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) have gathered at the 'Obra Spot' in Accra in anticipation of an address by their flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The supporters, who have been camped at the party's headquarters for two days now, are demanding for the next line of action to be taken by the party following the declaration of the results of the December 2012 elections.

The National Executive Committee of the party have been locked in a meeting to decide on the party's next line action action following their protest over some anomalies it said were recorded in several polling station across the country during the election.

The NPP flagbearer, according to the EC, polled 5,248,898 of the 10,995,262 valid votes cast representing 47.74%.

The NPP, according to the EC, have only the courts to resort to in this matter.

“The electoral law makes provisions for appeals if you feel aggrieved, so far they [NPP] have made only allegations without any substantive evidence... they can go to court. That is part of the electoral law, at this stage that is the only avenue open to them," the EC Chairman, Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan said in an interview with the BBC.
