The Central Regional Minister, Ama Benyiwaa Doe has stated that her success as the Regional Minister contributed immensely to National Democratic Congress' (NDC) tremendous gain in the region after last Friday's elections.

The NDC, in comparison with the results from the 2008, doubled its share of Presidential votes in the Central Region and won more Parliamentary seats as against the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Ama Benyiwa Doe: “It is unprecedented. I think for the NDC, this is the highest seats even if you work it up proportionally that we have been able to annex so far in history. I think I am really very happy even though people thought that I was just a woman.”

She noted in the interview with Citi News that she had worked tirelessly as a Minister and was "fully satisfied with the work that has gone on and indeed it came out of our hard work.”

She gave further assurance that the NDC was not going to relent in their efforts to fulfil all the promises it made to the people of the region.

Responding to rumours about her reported demise on Monday, Ms Doe said: “As a woman Regional Minster, it is unprecedented and what else could they say about Ama? Let me assure them that I am alive and kicking and by all means I am not disturbed at all by these kinds of rumours... So don't you worry at all. These things sometimes they give you more life and I am not disturbed at all by it.”
