Court Nullifies CPP Elections

THE HO High Court presided over by Justice K. Essel Mensah has nullified the results of recent elections conducted by a section of the Volta regional executive of the Convention People's Party (CPP) in a number of constituencies in the region.
This was contained in a statement signed by the regional chairman of the party, Prince Ahiadzro.
The order came after a faction led by Soesthenes Simon Sakyi and Eli Kotoku Elikplim ignored an earlier ruling of the court not to conduct any election in the region without the consent of the other executive members of the party.
They however went ahead and held conferences in 13 constituencies in the region without approval from the regional chairman and secretary, Nii Adjetey Sowah.
The affected constituencies are: Ho East, West and Central, Hohoe South, Hohoe North, North Dayi and the Akan Constituencies.
The rest are Ketu North, Ketu South Buem, Biakoye, Anlo and Nkwanta North constituencies.
The judge advised all members of the party to respect the court ruling and allow the party's programme to work in a spirit of brotherliness and love to promote internal cohesion in the party.
'However, any individual or group of individuals who may misconduct themselves contrary to the court order would be cited for contempt,' it added.
Meanwhile, the regional secretariat is taking the necessary measures to ensure that all elections are properly conducted in line with provisions of the party's constitution.
In line with that, all constituency executives have been directed to submit the list of all accredited branch delegates to the regional secretary one week before the holding of any conference.
