Oh Viasat 1, you too?
By The Jaded Renegade | Tue, 26 May 2009
I was beginning to use Viasat 1 as my sweet escape from the usual bad programming on local television, and also from the uncompromising inundation of our airtime with Nigerian films and series. As a fan of quality productions, I understood that it would take a long time before seeing any productions on the network that prides itself with showing only the best TV programmes and films. I also hoped that I would never see some of these half-baked Nigerian movies on Viasat 1 but it seems that my dreams had to bow over to the ever-growing impact of Hollywood.
Through out the month of May, the TV network has broadcasted a number of Nigerian films under its West African movies month theme. Frankly I hope that it ends and May and not travel beyond. Instead they should return to the usual African cinema slot were we get the chance to watch some great cinematography from our great continent, instead of loud people screaming camcorders. LOL!
