You fetch an important document and for the sake of security, you take its photocopy and store it somewhere if in case your original document is lost then at least you have the document proof and a duplicate second copy of that document as that photo copy of it. Same goes while you work on computer. There are lots and lots of documents, emails, images etc., that are crucial for you and they hold utmost importance for your work. So, in this binary format, you cannot obviously photocopy your document but instead you can save it or rather back it up by saving that data in the Windows backup file; so that, if in case, you lose the original file or document, then you can restore that data from this backup copy.

Explaining What Is a BKF File
Those backup files which have .bkf as their file extension and that are mostly associated with Windows NTBackup tool are called the BKF files. This utility was first included along with the Microsoft Windows NT versions and MS Windows XP Pro version of this Operating System. Such BKF files used by Windows operating system consist of a catalog of files which are backed up by this utility. If somehow user's data on the computer machine gets corrupted or overwritten or deleted by mistake, then these BKF files help them to restore the data and information.

Creating a BKF File
• First of all, open the NTBackup program
• Then, go to Start > then Programs > then Accessories > then system Tools > and finally Backup

Or
Press “Windows + R” keys > and then type NTBackup and finally hit Enter.

• Then, Click Next.
• Now, choose what to back up
• And again click Next
• After that, choose the location where you want to save the BKF file. Location can either be on the hard drive of your machine or on any other machine available on your network.

• And after that click Next
• You can even choose the Advanced options, if required

Need for Windows Backup Recovery Software
If BITS (which is the shortened form for Background Intelligent Transfer Service) is running along with the Windows backup “Drive Letter: \Documents and Settings\All Users”, then there are chances that your BKF file might get corrupted or unusable. After you have maintained the backup and while trying to restore data from that BKF file, you can face the following error message stating:

“Warning: Unable to open "Drive Letter: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat " - skipped.

Reason: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.”

This above written message come as a result of BKF file corruption and this is when you need a Windows backup recovery software as this situation can best be dealt and handled with the help of a professional third-party SysTools Windows backup recovery tool.
