Many a time, our impressions of many places, cities, countries and even people are formed from what the mass media most of the time feeds us on. But does the media really do good job when they try to give us what their pay masters ask them to do?

For many Africans, both on the continent and in the Diaspora, the country of Colombia brings memories of Escobar and the drug related stories. To some people, traveling to Colombia is like going to do drug business as one of our Facebook friends, EL said, “ei what are you doing there, I hope you are not sniffing their something ooo”. Make up stories of foreigners being kidnapped, street shootings and all sorts of atrocities are being peddled by some media houses to perpetuate the stereotypes about Colombia. But are all the “bad press and media image” true in reality? Is everything we hear about Colombia true?

PREKESE GHANAMEDIA's US based representative attended a conference in the S. American country of Colombia and his impressions about the capital city, Bogota are shared here in text information as well as in visuals.

"Shine your eyes" that is a slang in Ghana for quality critical viewing. Help yourself friends, family and fans. Here you go.

The airport in Bogota is modern, huge and very technologically up-to-date. It has everything you can think of a contemporary International airport as over 200 Airlines operate there on daily basis. Immigration and Custom checking were smooth but be ready for some uncomfortable experience when one needs help and does not speak the official or the local language, Spanish.

The immediate city impressions were great as the architecture were modern having some French and New York influences. Taxis were painted Yellow like New York or Taipei ( Taiwan) taxis. Our friend in New York, Mr. Bill who is conducting research on New York taxis told us that the yellow color is the best color for taxis for so many reasons especially safety being the one.

There are few things that all travelers do no matter where they go and is a MUST DO. Some of them are take shower, use the restroom ( American's refined word for what British call the Toilet),use domestic transportation and of course eat. As many of us can imagine, to see a restaurant in far away Colombia with the name KOKORIKO is like one being in a dream, because the name has so much resemblance to Ghana's hot spot, AFRIKIKO and KORIKO restaurants in Accra. Out of curiosity, I entered to check what was up there. Well, the food sold there were mainly chicken dishes and it tasted so good, I mean big YUMMY….finger licking one. Incidentally, my first food consumption in the city was at KOKORIKO ( the local KFC or Papaye) and my last meal in the city before I boarded my plane to NYC was also at the airport's KOKORIKO where I ate a chicken buffet style meal… was I getting an addiction? KOKORIKO addiction? If it is good, you better eat it twice…(courtesy of Lee Doudo of Akoo Te Brofo's fame). Dear friends, families and fans, enjoy these photos till we share the part 2 soon.

Am I making you hungry?
