07.08.2013 LISTEN

A Ghanaian medical herbalist, Abdul Razak, who is associated with the Somana Kunfayakun Herbal Centre located at Ashaiman in Tema, has called on Ghanaians not to look down upon our local herbs as complimentary medicine to the health care system in the country. The call was made during an interview with the US based media house, PREKESE Ghana Media's representative Daasebre Adansi-Prekese at Abeka Lapaz -Accra on 7th August, 2013 as part of the media house's research programme on health care delivery in Ghana.

HDr. Abdul Razak , a young man in his mid twenties who is gradually establishing himself as a knowledgeable individual with extensive knowledge in alternative medicine, natural living, medical complimentary medicine and faith healing is a must meet expert regarding questions on the use of natural herbs to address health issues. He travels around town educating the public on the use of common herbs available in our communities and offer sales of prepared herbal medicines and products from the Somana Kunfayakun Herbal Centre. His most current location is at Abeka Lapaz M1 Highway near the Abeka Lapaz Mosque.

In his usual common herbs education which was from ordinary household items , vegetables and fruits such as old pestle, corn cob, nim tree, honey, garlic, palm kennel, coconut oil, coconut, orange, pawpaw, pepper, prekese, chlorophora excels, khoya senegalensis etc, he explained how some of these herbs and fruits can be used to treat common sickness such as asthma, fever, worms, headache, malaria, general debility and sexual weakness in men. He also educated the audience about common leaves and herbs that can be used to counter the evil works of witchcrafts. This part of the education was very interesting because he showed his audience the secret ingredient in the 'back to sender' oils, soaps and creams being peddled around by many so called spiritualists.

Somana Kunfayakun Herbal Centre, which is located Denu Atadika Last Stop, Americana House at Ashaiman-Tema is a well known centre for the potent treatment of some of the medical challenging diseases such as Deformity, Sexual Transmitted Diseases, Piles, Skin Rashes and Hand and Foot Rots etc. HDr. Abdul Razak can be reached at 0546-675402.

In his concluding statement HDr. Abdul Razak called on Ghanaians to study herbs to understand how some common ailments can be taken care of as part of first aid health delivery. He said it is important for all Ghanaians to understand why the almighty God created and placed certain leaves, forests, roots and others tubers in Ghana for use as natural cure. He said for lack of knowledge of such herbs, many Ghanaians are destroying some common herbs which can significantly serve as simple and effective cures for household ailments. He said with such knowledge and practice, some of the health care financial burden that is always borne by the government can be ameliorated and the available funds used to take care of other important development programmes.
