Obaatanpa International And Chdscghana Salute The Ghanaian Mother

A US based International non-profit, the OBAATANPA House of Hope International and a Ghanaian NGO, the Centre for Human Development and Social Change,Ghana (CHDSCGhana) , have sent joint messages of good wishes to all African mothers, especially the Ghanaian hard working ones on the day of a global celebration of MOTHERS DAY.

Speaking from her office in New York , Nana Baakan Okukuranpon Yirenkyiwaa, the President of the OBAATANPA House of Hope International praised the African mother for her beauty, patience, sacrifices, hardwork and her caring nature. She continued “ We are all blessed to be the product ( offspring) of the TRUE MOTHER of the world. Let us continue the legacy as we raise our children and grandchildren to be future leaders, carrying on the great traditions of our ancestors”.

On her part, the Executive Director, Ms. Felicia Naa Morkor commended the Ghanaian mother by saying she was very happy to celebrate the day as a mother and praised all mothers. She also referred to the popular music dedicated to the African mother by a Nigerian popular musician, Prince Nico Mbarga who wrote the following : ( lyrics in Nigerian Pidjin)

And if I forget you, therefore I forget my life and the air I breathe.

for if you forget your mother you've lost your life.”

Today is Mother's Day 2011. Cherish your mother and shower your love upon her. No gift to your mother can ever equal her gift to you – life. To the world your mother might just be one person, but to you she should be the world. And to all the fathers the most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. It has been said that a man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.

This Mother's Day, let us make them feel more special than we make them feel year round. Saying “thank you” to our mothers need not be expensive. We can make our own personally crafted greeting cards/slide presentations or useful items for her kitchen or bedroom. What matters most is the sincerity and genuineness of the heart that will go with each gift for mom.
