THREE articulated trucks and a 207 Benz bus were involved in separate accidents between Suhum and Asuboi on the Accra Kumasi highway on Sunday.
There were no injuries but all the accidents were attributed to over- speeding, wrongful over taking, fatigue and brake failure between the hours of 1:30 am and 3:30 pm on Sunday.
The first accident occurred at Budu, a village near Asuboi involving an articulated truck, GR 9917 M which was loaded with teak wood from Nkawkaw to Accra.
According to an eye- witness the truck driver was overspeeding and trying to avoid a pothole.
The second accident involved another articulated truck with registration number N-9386-M2 from Tema harbour which veered off the road at Mankron near Asuboi because the driver was sleeping.
At the Mankron fuel station, a 207 Benz bus with registration number GR 4835 T carrying passengers from Nkawkaw to Accra veered off the road and got stuck in a bush because the driver was overspeeding.
The last accident, which blocked the road between Mankron and Asuboi for over 14 hours, involved a Man Diesel articulated truck with registration number AS 3953 V loaded with cement from Tema to Kumasi.
According to the driver, Mr Francis Adabo, the driver of an unidentified Ford bus switched on all the headlights on him and in an attempt not to have a head-on collision veered off the road.
He appealed to drivers of small vehicles to respect those who drive the long vehicles by dimming their lights in the night when they see other vehicles approaching.
Mr Adabo also urged the government to ban the use of fog lights in the country because the drivers do not know its usage.
"The drivers open the fog light on any oncoming vehicle they meet on the road in the night", he stated.
