One of the leading music stars in Nigeria, 2 Face Idibia, on Thursday night escaped death when a group of armed robbers in Lagos allegedly attacked and shot him more than five times in the leg.

The musician, whose popular tune “See Me So” has rocked the world's music scene for sometime now, was quickly rushed to the Cedar Hospital in Festac Town for treatment.

The incident took place along the airport road, on his arrival from London where he went to collect an award.

2 Face who was billed to perform in Ghana yesterday, could not honour the invitation to perform alongside selected music stars due to the attack.

A source close to the artiste's management told DAILY GUIDE that the armed robbers attacked only 2 Face, who was riding in the same car with four other musicians.

The source confirmed that Thursday's incident was the second time the Nigerian artiste was being attacked by unknown armed men.

“The first attack by a group of armed robbers took place in 2005 at his Festac residence, where they made away with his money and personal belongings. We believe the robbers were hired by certain powers to gun the artiste down.

We are not scared about their impending attacks on our artiste. The suspect will be exposed one day,” the source declared.

The source said while the award-winning musician was responding to treatment, all efforts were being made to protect him from further attacks.

As to whether he would relocate to prevent further attacks, the source said his management team would discuss the issue at a meeting.
