Democratic Freedom Party

The Democratic Freedom Party is a political party in Ghana. It was formed in 2006. The formation of the party was first announced by Dr. Obed Asamoah, former chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in February 2006. This follows a split between a Rawlings faction and a Asamoah faction within the NDC. The founding members include former leading members of the NDC such as Dr. Obed Asamoah, immediate past chairman of the NDC and also a former Attorney General and Foreign minister in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and NDC governments among others. There are other founding members from the Nkrumahist tradition as well.
